MATS 1st Runner Up: Miss Priscilla Twumasi attended the just concluded 7th Annual African Day Parade and Festival Sunday September 22nd 2013, in Harlem New York. The event which was a success was well attended by Africans in New York and the surrounding States. We wish the organizers more strength as they continue to showcase the beautiful culture of Africa to other people all around the world.
On Saturday, February 15th 2014, the 3rd annual Africraze event went live.
Africraze is a celebration of African Culture at Pennsylvania State University, Harrisburg campus.
Miss Africa Tri State; Queen Zoubeidatou Sylla was a Special Gu…est of honor and Speaker at the event. In her speech, she spoke about her experience as a reigning Queen, her goals of giving back and supporting those back home amongst other things.
It was a memorable event; a night filled with fashion, comedy, music and most importantly very good food (Jollof rice, fried rice, stewed fish, fried meat, and so much more)
Kudos to the Black Student Union and the African Affairs Committee for a successful event, and special thanks to Penn State University for supporting the student’s initiative of putting spot light on the African Culture!
It was a night of good food, entertainment and networking as Miss Africa Tri State 2013 hosted the “Playing it Forward” event. Special Thanks to all the guests that supported her effort. We are grateful !
The organizers of MATS are pleased to announce that this year’s event will be hosted in New York City. This is obviously a big step for us as an organization a…nd we look forward to a great event.

4th edition Miss Afrique Tri State a New York!

On April 14th, 2014 276 school girls were kidnapped in Nigeria while taking their final exams. This situation have not only affect Nigeria , but the continent of Africa. On June 16th, 2013, MATS Joyce Oppongwah was a Special Guest at the Humanitarian Press Conference on the conflict in Mali (West Africa) alongside the Mayor of Toms River; Joseph Champagne, Councilwoman Mildred, Ms. Barbara King, Director of International Affairs; Michael Gray.
There are an estimated 4.2 million Malians in need of humanitarian assistance; 270,765 displaced people inside Mali; and 176,777 Malian refugees in Mauritania, Niger, Burkina Faso and Algeria (UNHRC). The recent escalation of fighting and resulting displacement is exacerbating the Sahel’s chronic food crisis and contributing to ever-rising levels of malnutrition.
In her speech, Joyce promised to continue using her voice to create more awareness for this crisis and urges every African to support our brothers and sisters in Mali especially at this urgent time
